Mrs. L. Weeks was born in Nettle Creek township, Grundy county, Illinois, June 19, 1858. Her parents were Anders and Ingeborg Mathre. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. P. A. Rasmussen.

When 24 years of age she moved to Story City. On Nov. 2, 1885, she was married by Rev. P. A. Rasmussen to Henry Duea of Roland. They made their home there with the exception of seven years that Mr. Duea was County Recorder and lived in Nevada. Four children were born to this union, three of whom died in infancy. The surviving son, Severt Duea lives at Fairbanks, Alaska. Mr. Henry Duea died May 18, 1905.

On Dec. 28, 1911 Mrs. Duea was married to L. W. Weeks of Newark, Ill. A couple months ago Mrs. Weeks was taken sick and May 4, 1934, departed to be with the Lord at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 15 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, her son Severt, eight step-children all of Newark, Ill.; also three sisters and two brothers, namely, Mrs. E. P. Anderson of Story City, Mrs. J. B. Crim of Stratford and Mrs. Charley Hove of Jewell, Peter Mathre of Ames and Halbert Mathre of Davis Junction, Ill.

Mrs. Weeks will be greatly missed in the North Lisbon congregation where she has been very active in the ladies aid, Sunday school, prayer meeting and other activities of the church. She was very interested in missions and all the work of the Lord.

Funeral services were held in North Lisbon church Monday, May 7. Rev. Nils Klungtvedt and Rev. T. J. Knutson spoke. She was buried in Roland, Iowa, beside her first husband and their three children.
