From Story City Herald June 30, 1932 (page 2)

MRS. L. L. DALE CAME TO STORY CITY, IOWA, IN 1876

Martha Einerson was born in Stord, Sondhordland, Norway, Jan. 26, 1849. She immigrated to America in 1872, settling in Benton county, Iowa, and in the following year she was married to L. L. Dale.

In 1876 she and her husband moved to Story City, where Mr. Dale became the community's first tailor. Later they bought a farm near Gilbert and this was their home until they moved to Minnesota, where Mr. Dale bought a farm near Ihlen. They moved back to Story City in 1913 and have made their home here ever since.

Two children were born to her. One died at the age of 4 1/2 years, and one, Mrs. D. H. Jacobson of Gilbert, survives her, together with her devoted life companion.

Mrs. Dale had been afflicted with an ailment that made it difficult for her to move around freely of late years, though only the past few months was she bedfast. She bore her affliction bravely and uncomplainingly to the last.

Funeral services were held last Friday, where her pastor, Rev. Heimarck, officiated at the home and in the church. The pallbearers were: Hans Dale of Eagle Grove, Lars Dale of Sioux City, Peter Dale of Des Moines, L. A. Dale, C. F. Johnson and Theo. Howland of this place. Interment was made in the Story City cemetery.
