FRANK UTHE LAID TO REST LAST WEEK

The funeral services for the late Frank Uthe, Sr., were held Wednesday morning, May 14, at 9;30 a.m. from SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic church of Gilbert. The Requiem High Mass was read by Rev. D. A. Gorman and sung by SS. Peter and Paul's choir. Mrs. Adelaide Hougland sang two solos; which were rendered most beautifully. The pallbearers were all close friends of the deceased, namely: Carl Baldus, John Baldus, Dan Leininger, Fred Leininger, John McCoy and Tom Foley.

Mr. Uthe was born at Dickeyville, Grant county, Wis., Nov. 2, 1858, and passed away May 12, 1930, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 10 days.

In the year of 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Weber of Dickeyville, Wis. To this union were born six children: Frank H. Jr., who passed away Sept. 4, 1929, Anton and Joseph J. of Story City, Miss Magdalen M. of Des Moines, John G. of Boone, and Mrs. Carl Beyer of Dows.

March 4, 1886, he moved to Haverhill, Iowa, and Feb. 19, 1891, he moved to his present home northwest of Gilbert, where he resided at the time of his death.

On July 25, 1898, his wife passed away. He was again married April 23, 1901, to Miss Martha Elsner of Story City, and to this union were born 11 children: Alouies R. of Boone, Christine H., Elizabeth S., Frederick C., Ann E., Alma M. (died in infancy), Bertha M., Raymond H., Arthur W., Sylvester V. and Dorothy K., all at home. These with his wife, 18 grandchildren and three sisters namely, Mrs. Joe Wiederhold of Dickeyville, Wis., Mrs. Mark Houser of Dubuque and Mrs. Anna Koethe of Keiler, Wis., are left to mourn his untimely death. Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Frank Uthe was a kind and loving husband and father, and his greatest thoughts were his home and family. He will be sadly missed by his wife, family, relatives and friends.

The following from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Mark Houser and daughter Leona, Charles and Welbert Uthe, Theodore Langen, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schumacher and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schumacher and daughter Joyce of Dubuque; Mrs. Teresa Uthe and mother Mrs. J. Minch of Springfield, Ill; Mrs. Margaret Uthe of Kieler, Wis.; Henry Leiffelholtz of New Vienna; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Keiler and son George and Alice O'Brien, all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. John Beyer and son William of Dows; Agnes Weigel of Madrid.
