Obituary

JACOB C. JACOBSON

Jacob C. Jacobson was born Sept. 10th, 1846, at Moklebust, Uskedalen, Kvinherred, Norway. He emigrated to America, 1867, arriving at Clinton county, Iowa. In 1871 he moved to Illinois and the following year he was married to Josephine Olson of Gardner, Ill. In the spring of the year 1876 he moved to Iowa together with his wife and located on a farm one mile north of Gilbert, where he lived twenty-nine years. In the fall of the year 1905 he moved to Story City, where he resided until his death March 24, 1922. He is survived by his wife and seven children namely: Severt of Kanawha, Nels of Gilbert, Martha, Josie, Jacob, Ben and Susan of Story City. Seven grandchildren and one brother, Thomas Eness, of this place.

Mr. Jacobson was born and reared in a Christian home by Christian parents and was a firm believer in Christ as his personal Savior. He was an active church member and always believed in living up to the golden rule. He was a man with exceptional broad mind and views and good sound judgment. All who knew him knew that he was a man that they could absolutely rely on. He often extended a hand to those in need, but it was always done quietly, not even his own family knew of the many deeds of kindness.

About three years ago his health began to fail and he grew gradually worse, so his death was not unexpected by himself or his family. Last Christmas Day he was able to be up and around and he told his wife and family this would be the last Christmas he would be with them. He had his house set in order and was waiting for the call of his Master, which came so peacefully. He fell asleep in the arms of his oldest son, who was able to be with the family on this last day of Mr. Jacobson's life. We have the assurance that he is now safe on the other side and will be waiting the other side and will be waiting to welcome his loved ones, when God in his wisdom sees fit to call them home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28th, at the home and at the St. Petri church conducted by Rev. J. N. Andersen. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot at the South St. Petri cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends were present to pay their last respect to their departed friend.

Thus, still whene'er the good and just
Close the dim eye on life and pain,
Heaven watches o'er their sleeping dust,
Till the pure spirit comes again.
Thou wilt be remembered, not forgot,
For God has marked and sealed the spot,
To call its inmates to the sky.

Friends and relatives who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Ben Olson, Mrs. Sigurd Anderson, Nels Olson, all of Ft. Dodge; Ole Olson, Clare; Mrs. H. H. Sandvig, Graettinger; Mrs. Albert Anderson, Lynch, Neb.; Severt Jacobson, Bristow, Neb.; Ira Erickson, Valley Junction; Mr. and Mrs. John Hill, Huxley; S. M. Jacobson and family, Kanawha; Andrew Anderson, Huxley; Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Eness, Ames.
