OBITUARY
Clara Thompson

Clara Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Thompson was born Nov. 21, 1898 on the farm southeast of Story City and died July 20th, 1918 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Chas. Glaman in Jewell, being at the time of her death 19 years and about 8 months old. She attended Jewell High School for 2 years and finished her high school course in Story City, graduating with the class on 1917. Last fall she started the post graduate course at Story City, but was forced to give up school in the spring about five weeks before her work was finished. She was taken to Des Moines for medical aid and later to the Mayo Hospital at Rochester, Minn., where she was operated on but to no avail. She was taken from Rochester to the home of her sister at Jewell on June 20th and remained there till the time of her death. The deceased suffered from a tumor which had developed into cancer that gave her a great deal of suffering. She bore her disease patiently and cheerfully and was very happy to leave for the better land.

She leaves to mourn her untimely death her parents, seven sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held from the Glaman home at Jewell and from the Bethel church at Story City, conducted by Rev. Paulsrud. Interment at Roland cemetery.
