HANS AMLUND PASSES TO GREAT BEYOND
Died At His Home Here Friday After Long Struggle With Tuberculosis
Hans Amlund died at his home in this city Friday morning, August 18. His death was due to tuberculosis. He had been afflicted with this disease for the past three years, although not confined to his home until about the latter part of June.
Mr. Amlund was born in Norway, Nov. 12, 1851, and came to this country direct to Story City in 1868. He was married in this city to Katherine Beroen in 1872. To this union eight children were born, three boys and five girls.
He bore his affliction with great fortitude and during his long illness was a most uncomplaining sufferer. Not only in the home but a wide circle of friends will the loss be deeply felt. He has been closely identified with the growth of our city, and was one of its best and most respected citizens.
The funeral services were held at the St. Petri church, Sunday at two o'clock. A large concourse of people were present and paid their parting respect to the memory of the deceased. Rev. Sherven preached the funeral sermon. The body was interred in the cemetery at this place.
