MRS. HANS HANSON DIES.

Long and Acute Suffering Ended Sunday Evening.

Death came as a messenger of mercy to the pain racked body of Mrs. Hans Hanson last Sunday afternoon at four o'clock. Three years she suffered from an incurable ailment, variously pronounced a cancer of the stomach, malignant tumor or dyspepsia. At times she suffered untold agony, her last illness extending over a period of about seven weeks, and towards the last she obtained rest only by frequent injections of pain-deadening morphine.

OBITUARY.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Carrie Marie Larson, was born in Denmark, Sept. 15, 1832, bein thus at the time of her death 76 years, 3 months and 9 days old. On Aug. 20, 1861, she was married to her life-long companion, Mr. Hans Hanson. Nine years later, in 1870, they immigrated to America, settling two miles south of Story City, where they lived five years. In 1875 they purchased 80 acres of land 6 miles west of Story City, where they made their home until 1897, when they moved to town, where they have since resided as honored citizens.

Mr. and Mrs. Hanson's union was blessed with four children, all of whom are living, the passing away of the mother being the first death in the family in all these years. The children are: Mrs. Matt of Boone, Mrs. Enevoldson of Cedar Falls, John B. Hanson of Palo Alto county and Andrew P. Hanson of South Dakota.

Mrs. Hanson was possessed of the qualities which distinguished so many of our now rapidly disappearing pioneer women. She was kindly and patient, a hard worker in her day and won the respect of a large number of friends. The surviving husband and children will miss her greatly and they have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

The funeral was held in the St. Petri church yesterday afternoon and interment took place in the local cemetery.
