PETER THORSON DIED THURSDAY
SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS, AND WAS BURIED LAST SATURDAY
Peter Thorson died at his home in the southwest part of town at an early hour last Thursday morning. He had been quite sick some months ago but during the summer rallied sufficiently to be able to get around. Two weeks ago, however, he was taken down again and grew rapidly worse until the end came.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Immanuel church, of which the deceased had been a member. Rev. Heimarck preached the funeral sermon, in which he called attention to the godly life of the departed. Rev. Thorson and Rev. Paulsrud also made short addresses.
Mr. Thorson was 65 years old, having been born in Norway in 1846. He lived in Illinois many years before coming to Iowa. All who learned to know him, came to respect him as a man of unquestioned integrity and a devout Christian. His life was such that, like Abel, he speaketh though he is dead. The surviving widow and children have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in the loss of a kind husband and father.
The following are the children who survive their father: Rev. Thorson of Eagle Grove, Mrs. O. Thompson of Ellsworth, Mrs. Henry Hovland of Story City, Mrs. Thompson of Paxton, Ill., Tillie, Eric, Peter and Elmer who live at home. Mr. Thorson and family came to America in 1885 and settled in Helmar, Ill., where they lived 20 years. In 1905 they moved to Randall and in 1907 they moved to the farm southwest of town where he resided until his death.
