OBITUARY

OLE HANSON

Ole Hanson was born in Kvinherred, Norway, July 28, 1837. He came to this country in 1866 and settled in Clinton county. In 1868 he was married to Miss Bertha Torkelson; to this union was born four children, namely, Mrs. H. S. Hoffa of Marshalltown, Mrs. Hattie Giebelstein of Ida Grove, Mr. L. O. Hanson near Ames, and Mrs. R. S. Haun of Ames. In 1875 he located near Gilbert Station and a year later Mrs. Hanson passed away. In 1877 he was again married to Miss Lena Anfinson. To this union were born nine children, Mrs. Ed Sinn, Mrs. George Askelson, Anna, Anfin, Edward, Hans and Andrew, all of whom live at or near the home, except one daughter, Mrs. Lars Christensen of Ormsby, Minn., and one son died seven years ago.

Mr. Hanson was a faithful and devoted christian, and in latter years he devoted a great deal of time towards the church and he was always ready to help those that were in need. He lived a beautiful christian life in his own home, where his prayers and teachings well be greatly missed.

God's blessings seemed to go with him thru the struggles of life as by hard labor and careful management he became one of the most prosperous farmers of Story county.

His last illness was of short duration, being only ten days.

He passed peacefully away, June 20, 1912 at half past nine o'clock.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, at 2 o'clock at the South St. Petri church, the sermon being preached by Rev. Heimarck.

It was one of the largest ever held in the church. The flower offerings were many and beautiful. All the children were present at the funeral.
