SHELDAHL FUNERAL IS HELD SATURDAY

H. C. SHELDAHL, PROMINENT CHURCH WORKER AND CITIZEN LAID TO REST

Funeral services were held from Salem church last Saturday afternoon for H. C. Sheldahl, whose death occurred at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines last Thursday , the church being filled to overflowing with relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects to the departed. Rev. J. N. Sandven, assisted by Rev. Edward Duea of Slater, conducted the services, and special music was provided by a male quartet, and Mrs. L. S. Kloster of Des Moines. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.

Henry Christopher Sheldahl was born on the old Sheldahl homestead in the south edge of town, on December 17, 1866, his parents being Erick R. and Betsy Sheldahl, pioneer residents of this community. He grew to manhood in the community and has always made this his home. On June 2, 1896, he was united in marriage to Anna Birkestrand of Cambridge, who preceded him in death on May 28, 1915. Since the death of his wife he has been assisted on his farm by his children, until called by death on Thursday, March 19, 1925, at the age of 58 years three months and two days.

The children born to Mr. and Mrs. Sheldahl, all of whom are living, Mrs. B. J. Anfinson of Skyberg, Minn., Mrs. Leo G. Olson of Randall, Mrs. Clarence Ryg of Slater, Mrs. Edwin Erickson of Ames, and Mrs. Otis Wierson, Harriette, Erick R., John, Mark and David, all at home. He also leaves his aged m other, Mrs. Betsy Sheldahl, who is 88 years old and is now making her home at Cambridge, and five sisters and three brothers, Mrs. S. J. Severson of Cambridge, Mrs. J. F. Burretts of Des Moines, R. J. Sheldahl of Roland, O. E. Sheldahl of Elmore, Minn., Martha Sheldahl of Des Moines, Mrs. O. I. Eggland of Roland, Mrs. G. H. Krohn of Des Moines, and R. L. Sheldahl of Stanley, N.D. His Father, Erick R. Sheldahl died ten years ago, and also two infants, and three grown sisters, Mrs. S. K. Twedt of Huxley, Betsey and Isabelle, have passed away.

H. C. Sheldahl was a man of unquestioned Christian faith, living the life of a Christian as he thought it should be lived, and was always an active worker in the church and Sunday school. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem church, and was for several years an elder in the church. His departure will be felt in this church as well as in the community at large. He had not been in the best of health for some time past, but was able to attend to his daily work until a few weeks before his death. He was taken to Des Moines to the hospital two weeks ago, where he passed away on Thursday last week, the cause of his death being a complication of diseases.
