YOUNG MOTHER PASSED AWAY
Funeral Services For Mrs. Maynerd Johnson Held Monday
Mrs. Maynerd Johnson, who had been ill for several weeks with pneumonia and other complications, passed away at the hospital at Story City on Thursday last week. Funeral services were conducted from Bergen Lutheran church Monday afternoon, Rev. M. O. Sumstad preaching the funeral sermon. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.
Anna Thorson was born near Roland on October 5, 1899, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thorson. She grew to womanhood in this community, and on September 19, 1917, she was married to Maynerd Johnson and since they have lived on the E. K. Erickson estate farm northeast of town. She died on Thursday, January 29, being 25 years, 8 months and 24 days old at the time of her death.
Four children were born to this union, the oldest of which, Arthur Marvin, died in infancy. Three daughters, Alice Martha, Betty Marie and Gladys Irene, are left with the husband to mourn the loss of a wife and mother. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Mary Thorson, and three sisters, Mrs. Christ Hagen, Rosie and Tillie Thorson, besides other relatives and friends to mourn her untimely demise.
Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Oscar Johnson of Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Farr of Laurel, Mr. and Mrs. Al Johnson of Marshalltown, Mrs. Bob Edzy of Monmouth, Ill., and Mrs. I. E. Halverson of Armstrong.
