MR. J. R. BONDE.
J. R. Bonde died at his home east of town last Sunday. He had been quite sick for some time, so the end was not unexpected, especially as he was very old, being 81 years and five months.
The funeral services were held in the St. Petri church yesterday, a very large congregation being assembled to pay their last respects to an honored neighbor and friend.
J. R. Bonde was born in Denmark, Oct. 4, 1832 and died Mar. 22, 1914. He was married to Dorthea Hansen Aug. 22, 1868. Eleven children were born to this union, eight of whom are now living, and who with the widow are left to mourn the loss of a kind and considerate husband and father.
Mr. Bonde came to this country with his family in 1881, settling first in Story City and later going to the farm east of town, where he made his home ever since.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Kauffman, Mrs. Conrad, Mrs. Eaton, Mrs. Kramme, Mrs. Clough, Robert, Hans and Richard. The first four were here at the funeral but the others live at such great distances that they could not get here.
