OBITUARY

Mrs. George S. Johnson

Ellen Marie Erickson was born in Stavanger, Norway, April 12, 1866. Left her native country August 29th, 1885, and was joined in marriage to George S. Johnson the 1st day of May, 1900. She died the 24th of July, 1915 at 7:30 p.m. Services were held at Bethel church at Story City, where Rev. Sandven preached the funeral sermon.

The remains of our beloved wife, daughter and sister were laid to rest at Story City cemetery.

Rev. Sandven joined Mr. and Mrs. Johnson in marriage. Rev. Sandven was also called to Mrs. Johnson's bedside where he spoke comforting words of light and joy to our dying loved one. She was conscious and knew the pastor and understood all he said, With a bright and eager desire she partook of the Lord's supper while the pastor was there.

Her death was quiet and peaceful. The deceased had not been feeling very well for a number of years, but she never complained. Last winter her health began to fail more rapidly, but she went about her work as usual until six or seven weeks previous to her death, she wished to be taken to the Story City Sanitarium where she remained three weeks, but she longed again to be brought home, which was done and special nurse was engaged. She had the best of care human being can give, but she had to leave us. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, her mother, Mrs. Georgine Erickson, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Nichols and Mrs. Henrietta Halverson. They were all present at the death and burial, also one brother, Herman Erickson, living at Bangor, Me., the distance rendering it impossible for him to be present. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn her.

People out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. O. Skogerbo, of Lake Mills; Mrs. Chris Ullstad, of Albert Lea, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Charly Johnson, of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson of Quarry; (these are sister and brothers-in-law of deceased}; Mr. Tom Holt, her uncle; and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Osmund Holt, Marie and Teela Holt, all of Boone; Dora Holt of Ames; Mr. I. L. Donaldson of Nevada with two daughters Jeanette and Henrietta, a cousin from Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Helliesen of Zearing; Mrs. Andrew Halverson and Mrs. George Bru, both of Ferguson.

Flowers were brot in abundance for which we extend our sincere thanks to each and every one. Mrs. Mary Johnson's love and goodby to her friends, neighbors who wished to have called upon her in her sickness but under the circumstances could not be admitted, her kind memory was to you all.
