OBITUARY
Andrew J. Spring
Andrew J. Spring was born in Rutland county, Vermont, May 30, 1839, and died at Scranton, Iowa on July 25, 1916, aged 77 years, 1 month and 25 days.
He was married to Adelia Potter on June 6, 1867, and settled at Saratoga Springs, N. Y., where they lived for ten years. They moved to Story county in 1877, settling on a farm south of Story City, where they lived for about thirty years.
One child had preceded the father to the better land, having died in infancy at Saratoga, N. Y.
Seven years ago the family moved to Greene county, where they resided ever since. For the last three years Mr. Spring was in failing health, and for some time past was a great sufferer, but he bore it with patience and resignation.
He had joined the Presbyterian church at Gilbert a number of years ago, and was a supporter of every good movement. Besides his wife, two sons survive him, namely, Amos of Udell and Will, the latter being on the home place at Scranton.
The funeral services were held last Friday in Grace church, the services being conducted by Rev. Solum in the absence of the pastor. Many of the old time neighbors of the deceased were present at the funeral, tho the shortness of the notice prevented many from the learning of the time set for the funeral.
