DEATH RELIEVES ROLAND CITIZEN

Respected Citizen of Roland Passed Away at Home of Daughter in Minnesota. Funeral Held This Afternoon From Bergen Lutheran Church.

A message was received Tuesday morning from Lake Benton, Minn., announcing the death of K. T. B. Nelson at the home of his daughter, Rev. and Mrs. T. A. Goodmanson, the evening before. Mr. Nelson had been seriously ill for nearly two months with aneurysm and when he was first taken sick, it was hardly expected that he could live more than a few days.

Knudt Theodore Bernhard Nelson was born in Nerstrand, Norway, February 27, 1853, and passed away on Monday, April 7, 1924, at the age of 71 years, one month and ten days. In 1868 he came to this country and made his home in the vicinity of Roland. He was united in marriage to Miss Julia Johnson on April 8, 1880, to which union five children were born. Mrs. Nelson died February 2, 1916, and their youngest son, Walter B. Nelson, passed away last fall. The children who are left to mourn the death of their father, are, Mrs. B. J. Solyst, Roland; Eli N. Nelson, Roland; Mrs. T. A. Goodmanson, Lake Benton, Minn. He also leaves sixteen grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Shortly after his marriage, he moved on a farm seven miles northeast of Roland, and lived t here until 1895, when he moved into Roland to engage in the hardware business in company with M. O. Ferkin. After a few years, he disposed of his business and moved to a farm near Iowa Falls, returning the next year, to locate on a farm that he bought a mile north of Roland. The family lived on this place until the death of Mrs. Nelson, when he retired and has since lived with his children, leaving last fall for Lake Benton, Minn. to spend a few months with his daughter and passed away as above stated.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon from Bergen Lutheran church, of which congregation he has been a member since coming to this country. The funeral sermon was preached by his pastor, Rev. M. O. Sumstad, the church being filled with relatives and other friends, who came to pay their last respects to one who was highly esteemed by all who chanced to have made his acquaintance. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.
