KAREN JENSEN
Mrs. Karen Jensen was born at Eskelstrup, Denmark, Jan. 30, 1840, and died at her home in Story City, Dec. 26, 1923, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 26 days.
She was married in Denmark to Jens Jensen, and they came to America in 1867, settling on the old homestead south of Story City. There they lived for 27 years, moving then to Story City, where she has resided ever since. He husband and one daughter (Mrs. Anna Dalva) have preceded her to the better land. Her surviving children are: Mrs. S. R. Corneliussen of this place, Mrs. J. W. Strong of Des Moines, Mrs. Julius Danielson of Chicago, and Messrs. J. C., P. T. and C. F. Johnson of this place. Besides 16 grand children and 11 great grandchildren are left to mourn her death.
Ms. Jensen had been in uniformly good health up till a short time ago. When the breaking up of her earthly body set in, however, the end came very quickly. In her death passes the oldest Danish settler in Story county. Only one Danish family preceded them to this county, as far as is known, but they died some time ago.
Funeral services were conducted in the St. Petri church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Andersen. The pallbearers were: N. M. Nelson, A. G. Larson, Walter Hermanson, N. P. Paulson, M. J. Jorgenson and Ed Charlson.
