OBITUARY
John Hanson
Johannes Hanson (Praestus) was born March 19, 1844, in Praestus, Kvinherrad prestejeld, Norway, and died at his home in Story City on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1923, at the age of seventy-nine years, eight months and nine days.
On May 9, 1862, he was married to Anna Larson (Leite) and came with his family to America in 1872 settling in Story county near Gilbert, where they remained until about thirteen years ago when they moved to Story City.
Besides two sisters, Mrs. Lars Tveit of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Peter Monsen of Hardanger, Norway, he is survived by the following children: H. L. Hanson and Brint Hanson of Gilbert, L. J. Hanson, Mrs. Nels Jacobson, Belle Hanson and John A. Hanson of Story City, Mrs. P. Wierson of Bonetrail, N. D., M. L. Hanson of Goldfield and two foster children, Mrs. V. A. Niles of Des Moines and Helen Johnson of Story City. His wife has preceded him to the better land, also four children: Mrs. J. S. Johnson, Miss Christie Hanson and two who died in infancy. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
The funeral services were held in the Immanuel church, of which the deceased has been a faithful member, Rev. Heimarck officiating. The interment was at the South Church cemetery, the five sons and a nephew (Nels Larson) being the pall bearers.
