OBITUARY

Mrs. Hans Jacobson (maiden name, Guro Nilsdatter Gjerde) was born at Fuse, near Bergen, Norway, Aug. 30, 1841, and died at Gilbert Jan. 15, 1917, aged 75 years, 4 months and 15 days.

On April 9, 1862, she was married to Hans Jacobson Haugland, and together they immigrated to America the same year, settling at Calamus, Clinton county, Iowa, where they lived eight years.

In 1871 they moved to Story county, where they lived ever since on their farm a mile east of Gilbert. Her husband passed away in 1907.

Five children were born to her, who are all living, namely: Mrs. O. H. Jacobson of Story City, Nels H. Jacobson of Ames, and Jacob S. Jacobson, Daniel H. Jacobson and Mrs. O. W. Briley of Gilbert. Two sisters also survive her, namely --- --- ---- and Mrs. Lars Torvick; also 23 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
