Funeral Friday for LaVerne Huser, 41

Services for LaVerne Huser, 41, were held Friday at the Slater Methodist Church at 2 p. m. Rev. Richard Nichol was in charge, using the Twenty-third Psalm as his sermon text.

Rev. Lewis Malmin of Des Moines sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Some Day He'll Make It Plain to Me." Mrs. Gale Coffin, organist, accompanied him.

Pallbearers were Harold McHone, Frank Nichols, Marvin Smith, Clyde Longnecker and Wesley Longnecker.

Interment was in the Slater Municipal Cemetery.

Obituary

LaVerne George Huser was born June 10, 1925 on a farm near Granger, Ia. He and his parents moved to the Cambridge community when he was 14. He graduated from White Oak Consolidated School in 1941.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Ellen Ruark in Des Moines in 1946. To this union were born three sons: Vernon, Jimmy and Randy.

In April 1946, Verne enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served as an aerial engineer. Returning from his army service, he farmed in the White Oak community until ill health forced him to quit. He was a member of the White Oak School Board and an active member in the White Oak Church.

The family moved to Slater in 1957 and then transferred their church membership to the Slater Methodist Church.

Verne Huser passed away at the Veterans' Hospital in Des Moines on Dec. 7, 1965 after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; and three sons; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Huser of Cambridge; and one sister, Mrs. George Longnecker, Jr., also of Cambridge; and many relatives and friends.
