THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, October 12, 2005.
Leola Winifred (Taylor) Meacham, 95, of Boone died Saturday, Oct. 8, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with the Rev. Scott Milsom officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Winifred was born Dec. 26, 1909, in Darlington, Wis., to Harry and Harriett Mary (Kitto) Campbell Taylor. She was a 1928 graduate of Carroll High School. She married Charles C. Meacham June 15, 1933, in Carroll. She was a homemaker most of her life, but also was employed at Donnelley Marketing, Nevada National Bank and Davis Donnellan Lumber. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a past matron and a 50-year member. She loved to play bridge.
She is survived by 10 nieces, including Treva Melton of Perry, and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, on Jan. 30, 1985, and three brothers.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
