Matthew Hoyt Chitty, 45 of Nevada died on Wednesday, September 28 at his home. Memorial services were held Monday, October 3 at the Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastors Myron Herzberg and David Burling co-officiating. Burial of the cremains followed in the Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.

Matthew was born on February 15, 1960 in Nevada to Charles R. and Rosella L. (Rossberg) Chitty. He was a 1978 graduate of Nevada High School and attended DMACC. Matthew married Arlys A. Bryant on July 24, 1982 in Nevada. He was a farmer/truck driver. Matthew was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. He enjoyed NASCAR, gardening, cooking, reading, doing crosswords, and camping.

Matthew is survived by his wife Arlys Chitty of Nevada; 2 sons, Corey Whitehead and Val Foster of Ellsworth and Christopher Whitehead and Matthia Thompson of Nevada; 2 daughters, Lauren Chitty of Ames and Cynthia Chitty of Nevada; and a brother, Martin Chitty (Jenny) also of Nevada.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritans or Beyond Poverty.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the arrangements.
