PARVIN, THEODORE SUTTON ( -1901)

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 11, 1901, page 2, column 4.
“IOWA STATE NEWS – NOTED MASON DEAD. One of the oldest and most widely known masons in America, Theodore Sutton Parvin, died in Cedar Rapids, aged 84 years. He was grand secretary of the Iowa Masonic grand lodge for 58 years and was one of the last of the original pioneers of Iowa. He came in 1836 from New Jersey when Iowa was a territory, and two years later was made the first territorial librarian and also secretary to Gov. Lucas.”
