Rites Held for Mrs. Edwin Anderson

Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin Anderson were held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p. m. on Thursday afternoon, June 3 with her pastor, Rev. W. A. Adix, in charge. Mrs. Oliver Newman was organist and accompanied Mrs. Lester Becker, soloist, who sang "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" and "Children of the Heavenly Father."

Pallbearers were Ralph Demgen, Harold Adams, Richard Curphey, Gordon Kete, Nilus Ihle and John Huser.

Interement was in the Sheldahl Cemetery south of Sheldahl.

Obituary

Carolyn Sheldahl Anderson was born June 18, 1891 and met her untimely death on Sunday, May 30, 1965 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 12 days.

She was the youngest daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Osmund Sheldahl, the pioneer Lutheran pastor of Story County who came to Iowa as a home mission pastor about 1855.

She was baptized by her father and confirmed by the late Rev. P. O. Wee at the Lincoln Lutheran Church at Slater and educated in the Sheldahl public schools.

On June 18, 1913 she was united in marriage to Edwin John Anderson at the Sheldahl Lutheran Church. In June 1963 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Bethlehem Church.

To this union two sons were born: Edsel Carrol and Melvin Sheldahl Anderson. Edsel met death Jan. 10, 1945 during World War II in Luxemburg. She is survived by her husband, Edwin Anderson; son, Melvin; and a grandson, John Eric, of Newport News, Va.; a brother, Martin Sheldahl; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna and Martha Sheldahl; her parents, three half brothers and three half sisters.

Mrs. Anderson was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Congregation and in her Sheldahl community. Her life was an inspiration to all who knew her. In her radiant Christian life, she carried on the devout heritage of her saintly parents. She knew her God and Savior and daily lived in Christian faith and love. She will be greatly missed.
