DIED
Jacob Johnson died at the residence of Ole Saverud, Des Moines, Iowa, Monday, September 14, 1891 at noon, from malaria fever, having been sick but little over one week. Deceased was born in Etne, Norway in October 1865 he would [have] been 20 years old next month, he came to this country some eight years ago and most of that time he spent in Des Moines, and his home was with Mr. and Mrs. Ole Saverud where he was thought of as one of the family. His only relative in this country being a sister living near Woodward, Iowa. The funeral was held from the residence, Tuesday at 2 o'clock p. m. Rev. Bordahl of the Norwegian Lutheran church conducted the religious services. The funeral procession was lead by Company H, of which he was a member up to his death, they also conducted the regular military ceremonies.
Death has come again among us, and this time claimed for its own a bright young man beloved by all who knew him, for his kind disposition and pleasant ways.
