THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, October 2, 2005.

Matthew Hoyt Chitty, 45, of Nevada, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, at his home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastors Myron Herzberg and David Burling co-officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.

Matthew was born Feb. 15, 1960, in Nevada, to Charles R. and Rosella L. (Rossberg) Chitty. He was a 1978 graduate of Nevada High School and attended DMACC. He married Arlys A. Bryant July 24, 1982, in Nevada. He was a farmer and a truck driver. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. He enjoyed NASCAR, gardening, cooking, reading, doing crosswords and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Arlys Chitty of Nevada; two sons, Corey Whitehead and Val Foster of Ellsworth, and Christopher Whitehead and Matthia Thompson of Nevada; two daughters, Lauren Chitty of Ames and Cynthia Chitty of Nevada; and one brother, Martin Chitty (Jenny) also of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritans or Beyond Poverty.
