Mrs. Anna Ihle Died Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Ihle were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Riis Funeral Home and 2 o'clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Leo O. Bjorlie was in charge of the services. He chose as his text II Corinthians 5:8-10. Pastor Lewis Malmin assisted with the service and spoke briefly.
Otis Ihle sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" at the funeral home. During the church service Nilus Ihle sang "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus' Name" and Pastor Malmin sang "Den Store Hvide Flok Vi Se." Mrs. Oliver Newman, organist, accompanied the singers.
Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Marion Ihle, Norman Ihle, Arnold Ihle, Donald Ihle, Harlan Larson and David Larson.
Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Obituary
Mrs. Anna Ihle was born on Nov. 1, 1870 in Morris, Ill. and passed away at her home on Dec. 14 at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 14 days.
Her parents were Torres and Britta Ryen. They located near Slater in the 70's and here she grew to womanhood. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On Mar. 10, 1893 she was married to John Ryen, who passed away in August, 1898. They were the parents of one child, Cora.
In January, 1901 she was married to John Ihle. They established their home on the farm where they have lived ever since and here they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January, 1951.
Mr. Ihle passed away on Mar. 15, 1952.
They were the parents of four children: Mrs. Mabel Ihle Lein, who passed away on Mar. 15, 1902; Mrs. James (Theresa) Larson of Ames; Joseph of Williams, Ia.; Amos, on the home farm; and Cora, at home. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Gandrup of Story City and Mrs. Tena Ihle of Slater; and many nieces and nephews.
Among those preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Peter Ryan; a sister, Mrs. Rachel Rimathe; and two brothers who passed away in infancy.
She was a faithful member of the Bethlehem congregation and Ladies Aid until her health began to fail. She suffered a light stroke, causing her to fail in her home. She was hospitalized with a broken hip. As a result she has been a wheel chair patient for more than two years.
Mrs. Ihle was a sincere Christian wife, mother and friend to all her associates. She will be greatly missed by many relatives and friends and especially by her children who have given her such loving care. Blessed be her memory.
