Services Held for Mrs. Hollis Hedlund

Final rites were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Hollis Hedlund, who passed away Thursday afternoon at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines following brain surgery performed the precious Friday.

A short prayer service was held at the Riis Funeral home at 1:30 p. m. Miss Jo Ann Lyon sang "When Jesus Comes." She was accompanied by Homer Lewis. Rev. Wm. Hoyle, pastor of the Methodist Church, brought words of comfort to the family.

Funeral services were held in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p. m. Rev. Wm. Hoyle was in charge of the service.

Nilus Ihle sang "Behold the Host" and Miss Lyon sang "The Lord's Prayer." Homer Lewis, organist, was the accompanist.

The many beautiful floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. Roy Fausch and Mrs. Earl Smith.

There were many gifts to missions an worthy causes in memory of the deceased.

Pallbearers were Irvin Houge, LaVerne Fausch, Rodney Krause, Wendell Freed, Lowell Soderstrum and Arnold De Bie.

Interment was in the Palestine Cemetery.

Obituary

Edna Claryce Hedlund, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis A. Larson, was born Dec. 31, 1912 and passed away May 24, 1956 at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 24 days.

She was united in marriage to Hollis Hedlund on Sept. 27, 1933. To this union were born two children: a son, Bill, and a daughter, Marilyn.

Edna accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and was a faithful member of the Slater Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Clara and Esther. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Hollis; a son, Bill; a daughter, Marilyn; five sisters, Sina and Francis of Cambridge, Gladys of Des Moines, Lilla of Madrid and Marie of Seattle, Wash.; five brothers, Seward of Blue Earth, Minn., Silas of Ames, Milton Holland of El Centro, Calif., Noel of Fremont, Ia. and Donald of Lombard, Ill.

Edna will be missed also by her many friends and neighbors. She was a loving Christian mother and a friend of all who knew her.
