DEATHS
EDWARD J. KELLEY
Edward J. Kelley, 77, died Monday, July 28, 1986, at Long Beach CA.
He was born Nov. 4, 1908, at Melrose IA to Thomas and Margaret (Reynolds) Kelley.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 31, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Ames IA. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Mr. Kelley was married July 15, 1933, to Helen Schroeder. She died in 1976.
He was married May 19, 1981, to Eleanor Egeland of Ames.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James of LeClair IA and Patrick of Carbondale IL; a daughter, Kathleen, of Decatur GA; a brother, Tom, of Tucson AZ; three sisters Helen Fairall of Marshalltown IA, Mary Rodeen of Escondido CA and Lenore Hardy of Deltona FL, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife.
Mr. Kelley obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in 1933, and a law degree from Drake University in 1938. He was in private law practice from 1938 to 1958, was Story County attorney from 1940 to 1950, and was a district court judge, retiring in 1976.
He served in the Navy in World War II.
He was a member of St. Cecelia's Parish, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Ames Elks, Ames Lions, Iowa State Bar Assn., Iowa Judges' Assn., Republican Party (Iowa delegate for 1952 GOP National Convention), and American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, with rosary service at 8 p.m.
Stevens Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
