Services Held for Huxley Resident
Funeral services for Osmond Larson, Sr. lifetime resident of the Huxley community, were held Monday, Mar. 29, with a prayer service at the home at 1:30 p. m. Rev. Harry Stoutland was in charge, taking his text from II Corinthians, Chapter 5. Rev. Peder Buland of Cambridge gave a short message from Jeremiah 31:3. Rev. Nels Flugum of Forest City spoke in behalf of the family.
Rev. and Mrs. M. H. Rye sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and Mrs. Selmer Westvold sang "Behold a Host Arrayed in White."
There were many beautiful floral offerings and gifts to missions in memory of Mr. Larson.
Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased: Noel Larson, Edward Larson, Rudy Larson, Lester Larson, Randolph Flugum and Sherman Ekeland.
Burial was in Palestine Cemetery.
Obituary.
Osmond L. Larson, eldest son of Lars and Randy Larson, was born in Story County, near the Palestine Church on Dec. 4, 1876, and passed away Mar. 26, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 22 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine Lutheran Church, of which he had been a life-long member.
Since retiring from active farming in 1940, Mr. Larson has made his home in Huxley.
On Mar. 17, 1906, he was united in marriage to Serena Westvold. This union was blessed with four children: one daughter, Mrs. Anna Henryson, and three sons, Osmond, Jr., Lawrence and Seward.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Serena, who passed away Nov. 7, 1939, two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are his four children, all of Huxley: 10 grandchildren, two brothers, Henry and Lewis of Huxley, and two sisters, Carrie O. Larson of Des Moines and Mrs. Mary Flugum of Forest City; also a large host of relatives and friends.
