Oma Violet Reynolds, 94, of Huxley and formerly of Redfield, died Sept. 21 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the East Linn Cemetery in Redfield with Pastor David Digby officiating.
The daughter of William and Imogene Dickerson, Oma was born in Ringgold County on Feb. 10, 1911. She graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1929. She was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Mount Ayr for several years. She married Jesse B. Reynolds at Mount Ayr on Sept. 11, 1937. She lived in Des Moines and Mitchell, S.D., before moving to Redfield in 1946. She lived in Redfield for 46 years and moved to Ames in 1992 to be close to her daughter. She moved to Ballard Creek Community assisted living in Huxley in 1998. She was a member of the Redfield Christian Church.
Oma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and four brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy (Derek) Krebs of Nevada; son, Ricky (Jenny) Reynolds of State Center; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two brothers, Hollis Dickerson of Des Moines and George Dickerson of Oklahoma.
A viewing and visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Her body will be cremated following the visitation.
