BOWMAN, REV. H. J. ( - 1894)

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 8, 1894, page 1, column 3.
“DEATH OF REV. H. J. BOWMAN. – Our beloved friend and brother, Rev. H. J. Bowman, of Creston and the Des Moines Conference, died in peace Monday, Jan. 22d at 1:30 a.m. As our readers already have been informed, he had been in poor health for some time and the end was not unexpected. In fact, he had been in poor health for several years. His death is indeed a sad affliction to the family. Many hearts will go out in sympathy for his widow, (nee Miss Kate Kleinfelter) and his children, especially his daughter, Mrs. G. E. Dienst, who is in the missionary service of our church in far off Japan, who has suffered the loss of both mother and father, the former having died some five years ago. But there will be a glad reunion in heaven. Brother Bowman was a man that will be remembered by many of his hearers. To herm he preached the gospel of Christ and has been the means of bringing many to Christ. Bro. Bowman is an able preacher and ardent advocate of holiness and an active worker in the Lord’s vineyard. For eight years he edited the “Living Epistle and our English Sunday School literature with great acceptance. The burial took place at Jewell City, Kansas
