TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 22, 2005.

Cecil Durrell, 76, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005 at Hospice Kavanagh House in West Des Moines from Lymphoma. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale.

Cecil was born in Des Moines and lived in Ankeny and Elkhart before returning to Des Moines 25 years ago. He was a truck driver for Western Transportation for thirty years and was a member of the Local #90 Teamsters.

Cecil enjoyed scuba diving, weight lifting and Judo. He was a kind, funny and gentle father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Cecil is survived by children, Marianne Al-Sarraf, of Kuwait, Lori Grismore, of West Des Moines, Scott Durrell, of White Oak, David Durrell, of Elk Grove, Calif., and Shawn Durrell, of West Des Moines; nephew, William Durrell, of St. Louis, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and two great-granchildren.

Visitation begins after 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Westover Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines.
