DEATH OF POPULAR SHELDAHL LADY

Mrs. Lulu Harpel Comes Home from Colorado to Die Among Friends A Large Funeral

Sheldahl, April 8:- Mrs. Lulu B. Harpel passed away Thursday morning, April fourth at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Hendrickson, after a lingering illness of tuberculosis of the stomach and bowels. Her health began to fail over a year ago and last August she was taken to Denver, Colorado with the hope that the change of scene and climate might benefit her, but it was of no avail. The grim destroyer had too firm a hold on the young life and she was brought back to the home of her parents March 24th where she passed peacefully away. She was a most patient sufferer, never complaining and was always smiling and cheerful greeting the many friends who called to see her with a pleasant word and smiling face. But death, who loves a shining mark, snatched her from the arms of her loved ones and left their home desolate, for she was a most loving daughter and sister, a kind, true friend and will be deeply mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives. Her last days were made pleasant by the profusion of beautiful flowers, sent by loving friends, and b the devoted care of parents and sister.

Funeral was held Sunday in the Norwegian church at Slater which had been beautifully decorated. The services were conducted by the Rev. Holman, assisted by Rev. Hansen. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and a large crowd assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to the dear one, gone to the Great Beyond, and to extend their sympathy to the sorrowing family. Death had no terrors for her and she made most of the arrangement for her funeral herself. In a beautiful white casket, covered with lovely, fragrant flowers and borne by six lady friends, she was laid to rest in the Slater cemetery.

Mrs. Lulu Hendrickson Harpel was born in Story county, July 17, 1881 and died April 4, 1907. She was married to Leander Harpel May 6th, 1902, and she leaves a father, mother, two sisters and two brothers to mourn her loss who sere all at her bedside during her last hours except her brother George of Denver and her sister, Mrs. Mary Stockdale of Goldfield. Our sympathy is extended the sorrowing family.
