Rebecca Ann Jones was born in Frankford county, Kentucky, Feb. 5, 1822, where she lived until she was fourteen years of age. She then moved with her parents to Clay county, Indiana. In 1846 she was married to Isaac Jones and to this union were born eight children, three having preceded her to the world beyond. With her husband and family she moved to Iowa in the fall of 1853 and settled on a farm in Story county where they lived until ten years ago.

On account of old age they were compelled to give up the old home and took up their residence with a son in Des Moines. Her husband died only a little more than a year ago. She died at the home of her daughter at Webster City where she was visiting, September 18, 1904. She leaves three daughters, two sons and two brothers to mourn her demise. The funeral was held Wednesday and the remains interred in the Walnut Grove cemetery.
