From Ames Times, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 8th, 1904.
Charlotte L. Davy
Charlotte L. Davy was born at Middlefield, Otsego county, N.Y., July 12, 1846. She was of a family of nine children. Her father, mother, two sisters and two brothers have preceded her to the better land. Her oldest brother is lying in an unmarked grave, having given his life in defense of his country and his flag.
She was married to Charles P. Queal October 15, 1870 at Hartwick, N.Y. The following spring she moved with her husband to Ames, Iowa, where on a farm three miles northwest she spent twelve years. The rest of her life was spent in Ames until her demise at six forty five September 3rd 1904. She was 58 years 1 month and 11 days of age. She was the mother of seven children, four daughters and three sons, the oldest daughter and youngest son having preceded her and are waiting to meet her. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, three daughters, two sons, three grandsons, three sisters and one brother, also many other relatives and friends. She was a faithful, honest, industrious and loving wife, and an indulgent mother. Although suffering the keenest agony for more than a year, she was not disposed to complain, and will be greatly missed by all. The sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved family and relatives of the deceased.
The funeral was conducted by the pastor of the U.B. church Tuesday at 2 p.m., and was largely attended. The floral offerings were very profuse.
