Mrs. D. was born in Somerset Co., Pa., in 1811, in after years removed to Ohio and from there to Iowa. She with her husband, united with the Christian church, in Ohio, forty-one years ago, since which time she has lived a devoted and Christian life. Kind, generous and self-sacrificing, she was beloved by all who knew her. She was the mother of ten children, three sons seven daughters, all of who survive her except one son, who fell on the battle field in the war of the rebellion. Of the children who survive her only four were present to pay the last tribute of respect to their dear departed mother. The others being so far distant, and her illness so short that they could not be apprized of it in time to reach here. Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. Ferguson and largely attended. Her remains were conveyed to the Peoria City cemetery and laid to rest beside her husband there to await the resurrection morn and receive the plandit, “Well and faithfully done; Enter into thy joy and sit down on my throne.” Floral tributes were bestowed, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of all.”
