Jeffery Rasmusson, 90, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ at 250 E Ave. in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams of the First United Methodist Church of Nevada officiating. Burial will follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. Memorials may be directed to Edith Rasmusson at 745 Timberland Dr., Apt. 301, Story City, IA 50248.
Jeffery Herman Rasmusson was born March 28, 1915, near Nevada to Lewis and Bertha Rasmusson. Jeff grew up in the area between Nevada and Roland, graduating from Milford High School in 1932. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, and he served as president of the congregation. On Feb. 15, 1939, Jeff married Edith Maxine Hanson in Story City. They farmed six miles north of Nevada and retired to Nevada in 1979. Jeff was president of Toastmasters and the PTA of Milford School and served on the school boards of Milford and Nevada. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada and the Farm Bureau. They moved to Story City in July.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Edith of Story City; a son, Ronald Rasmusson of Glendale, Ariz.; three daughters, Janet Larson (Dennis) of Laurens, Marcia Neighbour (Walter) of Ankeny, and Beth McKim (Curtis) of Slater; eight grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
