THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 15, 2005.

Jacqueline D. (Gord) Udorvich, 72, of Ames, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, at home after a sudden illness. A family visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturda,y Sept. 17, in the Green and Social rooms at the Northcrest Community, 1801 20th St., Ames. A private burial will be at a later date in Bethlehem Cemetery in Slater.

Survivors include one daughter, Billie Jo York and her husband, Douglas, of Cedar Rapids; one son-in-law, Steven and Margaret Todd of Ames; one brother, Edward and Delores Gord of Marshalltown; four grandsons, Chris and Anne York, Ryan and Feryl York of Cedar Rapids, Adam and Janna Todd of Baxter and Alan Todd of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dollie Gord of Slater; her husband, Rudolph William (Bill) Udorvich; and one daughter, Rae Jean Todd.

She was born in Slater, the daughter of Jennings "Jack" Orville and Dollie Mae (Lowman) Gord. She married Rudolph William (Bill) Udorvich Sept. 4, 1948. She lived in the Slater area for most of her life. She worked at the Farmers Co-op Creamery and Mississippi Valley Milk Producers Association in Slater. She then worked as a supervisor at Hach Chemical in Ames for 15 years. She worked as a receptionist at Northcrest Community the last 14 years. She had volunteered at Mary Greeley Medical Center at the information desk and with Meals on Wheels. She also was a Sunday school teacher at Slater Methodist Church and a Camp Fire Leader. She also volunteered for the Department of Human Services and the Octagon Center for the Arts in Ames. She and her husband were avid Iowa State Cyclone fans, supporting the wrestling and football teams.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The joy of her life was her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in her name to the Heartwood House Northcrest Foundation, Heartland Senior Services or the city of Ames Animal Shelter.
