From The Slater News December 25, 1896 (page 5)

Jacob Stenson is dead.

The sad intelligence comes from Norway that Jacob Stenson, a former citizen of this township had died on Nov. 2, at his home Aabo, in Vass, Norway, from lung fever, after an illness of fourteen days.

Mr. Stenson is well known to many of our readers, he lived on a farm near Ballard Grove for many years after which he moved to Huxley and built a blacksmith shop. He was always highly respected among his fellow men and for many years held the office as township clerk and postmaster of Huxley. While living at Huxley his wife became insane and had to be taken to Mt. Pleasanat for treatment, where she still remains. Mr. Stenson went to Norway several years ago for his health and settled down near his birthplace. Deceased had no children of his own, but has an adopted son Ole, who lives near Lake Preston, So. Dak.

We got our information of Mr. Stenson's death from Mr. T. S. Vespestad, who has had a letter from Kari Koltvedt, Stenson's housekeeper.
