OBITUARY.

Lewis Hauge, whose death was briefly mentioned in last week's paper, was born on the 9th day of November, 1891. He died at the Methodist hospital at Des Moines on the morning of November the 5th, 1910, having reached an age of a few days over nineteen years. Funeral took place Friday from the Jens Roe home and Fieldberg church at Huxley where relatives and friends gathered to pay their last tribute. Rev. Guttebo had charge of the services. Burial was made in the Fieldberg cemetery.

Deceased had been sick for some time. It started with malaria fever in July. He got much better and seemed on a fair road to recovery when he became worse and was again confined to the house. Complications set in and he was removed to Des Moines where he was operated on. He was getting along very nicely and was up when he had a sudden relapse. His recuperative powers were gone and he commenced to fail rapidly and continued to grow worse till death claimed him on the morning of November 5th.

Lewis Hauge was born near Huxley but was reared at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Roe southeast of Kelley who had adopted him when he was a child and had always cared for him as if he was their own boy. His adoption into the home was the result of the death of his father. The sorrow was too much for the grief stricken mother and she became unable to provide for her loved ones, four in all, and they were all cared for by friends, being adopted into splendid homes. He always made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Roe.

Aside from his foster parents he is mourned by two sister and a brother and a host of friends. He also left to mourn his untimely death a sweetheart to whom he had been engaged to marry. Throughout his illness she remained constantly by his side and left nothing to help nurse him back to health but to no avail and he died in spite of all that loving hands could do.
