OBITUARY OF MRS. GRIFFITH

A Brief Life Story of Mrs. Perry Griffith, Who Was Recently Called By Death.

Ella Brown Griffith was born at the parsonage at Black River Falls, Wisconsin, April 6, 1885, and died at her home near Kelley on December 20, 1921. When only a small girl she moved with her parents to Iowa and lived with them at Spirit Lake, Rock Rapids, Fort Dodge, Sioux City, Des Moines and Indianola. She graduated from the North Des Moines high school in 1903. She completed her education at Simpson college at Indianola, from which institution she graduated in 1907.

On January 2, 1908, she was united in marriage to Mr. Perry E. Griffith of Red Oak, Iowa, and with him went to Red Oak, where the two started life together on a farm near there. They made that community their home till the year of 1913, when they took up their residence on a farm near Ankeny, living there till 1918, when they purchased and moved onto a farm several miles northeast of Slater. To them were born six children: Marrill, November 2, 1908; Gladys, April 10, 1911; Verne, February 23, 1913; Harold, March 11, 1916; Helen, September 27, 1918, and Everett, January 14, 1921. On July 11, 1919, the family circle was broken for the first time by the loss of Master Verne, a lad of 6 years.

Mrs. Griffith early in life joined the Methodist church and was a constant active member throughout her entire life. As a wife and mother constantly gave every attention to the care of her loved ones, and those that knew her best will always find comfort in remembering how cheerfully she always fulfilled her duties and hov her every desire was to serve and rear her children to love all the good things in life.

Besides her husband and five children, she leaves two brothers and two sisters, her mother-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
