THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, September 4, 2005.

Dale L. Preston, 60, of Woodward, died Thursday, Sept. 1, of an accident at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Ankeny Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Dale L. Preston was born in Blair, Neb., the son of Dean and Irma Preston. He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-67. He attended Iowa State University from 1967-69. He retired from the Army National Guard in 1998. He was a member of the Albaugh-McGovern American Legion Post No. 42, IOOF Ft. Des Moines No. 25 and the Teamsters Local No. 238.

He is survived by one son, Dave (Carla) Preston of Ankeny; one grandson, Carl Dean Preston of Ankeny; two brothers, Dean Preston Jr. of Casselberry, Fla., and Henry Preston of Trenton, Mich; and two sisters, Lory Krummen of Linn Grove and Linda Rickers of Westside.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lola Preston.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Ankeny Funeral Home.
