L. Lawrence Haws, 88, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Sunnyview Care Center in Ankeny. Services were held Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Hamilton's Funeral Home on Lyon Street.

He was born on February 2, 1917, to Eva and Leonard Haws in southeast Des Moines and was the fourth of five sons. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines in the early 1930s, where he was an avid baseball player and ran track. Lawrence married Enid Warren in 1935.

Lawrence raised his family on a farm north of Colo where he was a dairy farmer until he retired.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Enid; and his three sons, Kelly (Debbie) of Nevada, Pat (Carolyn) of Ankeny and Mike (Joyce) of Ankeny. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his brothers, Harlan, Harry, Howard and Guy; and one granddaughter, Audrey.
