Last Rites Monday For Mrs. John Moroney At St. Patrick's Church
Funeral services for Mrs. John Moroney, 84, 1025 Lincoln avenue, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 25 at 4:30 p.m. at her home following a long illness, were held from St. Patricks Catholic church, Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock with the Reverend Fathers Vern F. Cross, Nevada, D. A. Gorman, Webster City and Joseph Murphy, St. Anthony, officiating at the solemn high mass.
The choir of St. Patrick's church sang the mass and responses, directed by Mrs. Lester Meimann with Shirley Greiner at the organ.
Casket bearers were nephews of the deceased: Patrick Carmody, Nevada, Patrick Walker, Denver, Colo., Charles Morell, Nevada, James Roche, Zearing, Martin Wheelock, Ames and Francis Carmody, New Hampton.
Burial was in the Nevada Catholic cemetery.
Obituary
Mary Ann Carmody Moroney, was born in Forreston, Ogle Co., Illinois, May 12, 1887, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Carmody and moved with them to Iowa in 1884.
She was married to John Moroney, May 30, 1907.
Mrs. Moroney was an active worker in St. Patrick's church during the years her health permitted. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church all her life.
Of her seven brothers, all have preceded her in death. They were Charles, Patrick, Steve, John, Michael, Edward, Martin Thomas Carmody and one brother who died in infancy. Of the four daughters born to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Carmody, the death of Mrs. Moroney leaves but one surviving, Mrs. Delia Walker of Denver, Colo. Two of the daughters died in infancy.
Mrs. Moroney is survived by her faithful husband of 44 years, by a number of nieces and nephews and by a wide circle of friends.
From Out of Town
Among the 65 relatives in attendance at the last rites those from out of town were from Denver, Colo., Hastings and Mankato, Minnesota, Eagle Grove, New Hampton, Des Moines, Marshalltown, Ames, New Providence, Zearing and Colo.
