Funeral Services Held Monday For R. C. Roupe
STORY CITY -- Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 26 for R. C. Roupe, with a prayer service in the Larson-Peterson Funeral home at 1:30 and at Grace E.U.B. church at 2 o'clock with the pastor, W. D. Winter, officiating.
Mrs. Luther Matson and Mrs. John Howell sang, "Beyond the Sunset," and Mrs. Dorrel Doolittle served at the organ. Burial was in the Story City cemetery.
Pall bearers were Magne Idse, E. E. Aarvig, Gaylord Johnson, Joe Donhowe, Serral Munsen and Myron Rod.
Obituary
Royal Christian Roupe was born at Yorkshire Center, New York, March 24, 1876, and departed this life last Thursday morning, Jan. 22, 1953, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 28 days.
In his earlier married life he served as assistant post master, then for a time as field man for Highland Park college, Des Moines, and Fieldman for Fairmont Creamery, Des Moines. Then for a goodly number of years, he was in the shoe repair business, both in Ames and in Story City. The family moved to Story City in 1941. Because of failing health, Mr. Roupe retired several years ago. He was a member of Grace Evangelical United Brethren church, Story City.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his companion, who tenderly and continually was at his side during his illness; and three sons R. V. (Vincent) of Des Moines, Iowa, R. L. (Lyle) of Norwalk, California, and R. H. (Richard), of Gary, Indiana. Remaining also are four grand children, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence of Delano, Calif. and Rufus, of Fresno, Calif. and many friends.
His family will always remember Mr. Roupe as a devoted husband and a kind and loving father.
