Mrs. Chas. Gillham Died Early Today; Funeral Monday
Mrs. Charles E. Gillham, 53, for about ten years a resident of Nevada, died at Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines early today.
Mrs. Gillham, whose home is at 1114 Seventh street, had submitted to a major surgical operation the first week in July, was later brought to her home here, but last week was taken back to Des Moines for a second operation, her condition then being recognized as very critical.
The body is now at the Bishop Mortuary and funeral service will be on Monday. There will be a prayer service at Bishops at 9:00 a. m. after which the body will be taken to the old family home at Albert City and the funeral will be conducted at the Lutheran church there, with Dr. J. O. Simon of Memorial Lutheran church of this city in charge.
Mrs. Gillham was born at Windsor, Illinois March 26, 1886 but came to Iowa with her parents when a mere child. They settled near Albert City and there the family home had since been. She became a member of the Lutheran church at Albert City when a girl of 14. She was married January 10, 1920 to Charles Gillham and their only son, Carroll, was born January 13, 1921.
The mother and one brother have passed on and she is survived by her husband, the one son, her father, age 87 years, and sisters Mrs. Ward Wray of Sutherland and Mrs. C. E. Gulbranson of Albert City.
The family came to Nevada from Radcliffe, about ten years ago and this had been their home since. Mr. and Mrs. Gillham became members of Memorial Lutheran church shortly after moving to Nevada and had ben active their membership there since.
She was a woman of many very fine characteristics and will be greatly missed not only by members of the family, but by her neighbors and friends.
