Dick Lawson Kicked By Horse; Injuries Fatal

Richard H. Lawson, 54, well-known Milford township farmer is dead today as a result of injuries sustained when kicked by a horse Monday. He died Tuesday at 11:25 p.m. following an operation performed at Mary Greeley hospital, Ames early Tuesday morning.

Funeral services will be held at the Adams Funeral chapel, Ames on Friday afternoon at 3:00 and burial will be in the cemetery at Ames. The service will be in charge of Rev. Walter Morgan of the Methodist church.

Mr. Lawson leaves his wife who before her marriage was Pearl Banks, a daughter Harriett and son Robert. The latter has been in New Mexico but is expected home Thursday noon.

He also leaves three brothers: Harvey of Edmond, Oklahoma; Otis of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Ell of Booker, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. E. A. Kingsbury of west of Nevada and Mrs. Emma Patterson of Edmond, Oklahoma. One sister, Mrs. Inez Dawson died about five weeks ago at her home in Oklahoma City.

Richard Lawson was born in Kansas, October 26, 1883 and came with his family to Des Moines in 1888. Later the family lived near Ames and it was there that he was married to Miss Pearle Banks in 1912. For some time they lived on a farm on West Lincoln Way but more recently they owned and lived on what is known as the old Carey farm, the first farm house on the east side of the road, south of Dayton's park.
