Johnson Child Buried at McCallsburg*
Orlen DeVon, a son of Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Johnson*, residing five miles southwest of McCallsburg, was born Jan. 20, 1938, and died at Mary Greeley hospital, Ames, Nov. 28, 1938. He had been ill for only a short time.
The funeral took place Thursday, Dec. 1, with a brief devotional at the home at 1:30. Jeannette and Ethel Thompson sang, "Jesus Love Me." In the church the Zion choir sang: "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Levi Thompson sang: "Some Time We'll Understand." The pall bearers were Irvin Knutson, Dean Osmundson, Jarl Osmundson and Leo Tjelmeland. There were several beautiful bouquets of flowers, among others one from the school children in McCallsburg also some gifts for missions. The remains were laid to rest in the Zion church cemetery.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Orlin DeVon Johnson is actually buried in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery at Garden City, Hardin County, Iowa. He was the son of Peter Oli Johnson and Sadie Eliza Osmundson.
