Mrs. Deborah Johnson Buried In Cemetery at Guthrie Center
The body of Mrs. Deborah Johnson, 81, who died here November 28, was taken to Guthrie Center for burial, after services held at the Bishop Funeral home here. The funeral party accompanying the body consisted of a dozen relatives and friends.
Deborah Harris [should be Deborah Pearce] was born on April 13, 1857 at Manasquan, New Jersey, where she spent her early childhood and grew to womanhood.
She was united in marriage to Wm. Walling of New Jersey, and two children, a son Wm. and a daughter Addie were born to this union, who with the husband and father preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother, James H. Pearce of New York City, also a foster son Frank Johnson of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.
In Jan. 1920 she was united in marriage to George H. Johnson of Nevada, Iowa, where she has since made her home. Since the death of her husband in April of this year, she has kept and maintained her home.
On Nov. 1st she was injured in a fall and taken to the Iowa Sanitarium where she passed away Nov. 28, 1938, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 15 days.
She became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints of Nevada, Ia., Nov. 24, 1934. She was active the church services, enjoying the social activities and attended them whenever possible.
She was a good neighbor and friend and her passing will be mourned by those who knew her.
