OBITUARIES

Purl John Ernst

Feb. 16, 1905, to Aug. 24, 1991

Purl John Ernst, 86, of Ames died of respiratory failure at Grand Avenue Care Center.

He was born to John C. and Emma (Huffman) Ernst at Ames. He was a lifetime resident of Ames, working as a miller for Gilchrist Coal and Feed and for North Star and Casey's. He married Thelma Warren on Nov. 24, 1926, at Ames. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Church.

Survivors include his wife Thelma of Ames; three sons, Robert of Bedford, Ronald of Lake Park and Charles of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Earl, who died in 1933.

Services were held Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home, Ames, with the Rev. Bill Raymond officiating. Burial was in the Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
